About the Designer
How do I create a new project?
Sign in to your account and open the main dashboard. From there, create a client first (or pick an existing one) and press New project. The wizard will ask for the overall dimensions of the closet (height, width, depth) and the number of sections. You can then choose the interior layout of each section — closet rods, shelves, drawer stacks, and so on — and see the result in the 3D viewer in real time.
What types of furniture can I design?
Roostwood currently specializes in custom closets. You get 17 base layouts (full drawer bodies, half bodies, double hang, shoe shelves, vertical drawer stacks, etc.) plus a wide catalog of ready-made combined designs you can adjust section by section across multi-section projects. You can also add built-in shelf towers and custom drawer stacks.
How does the 3D view work?
The 3D viewer is built with Three.js and renders directly in your browser — nothing to install. You can rotate the model by dragging with the mouse, zoom with the wheel and change the perspective to see the closet from any angle. Every time you change a dimension, a material or the interior layout, the model updates instantly.
Can I export my designs?
Yes. From the project screen you have several export options:
- Cut list CSV — the complete cut list with every part, its dimensions and materials, ready to send to the CNC or the saw operator.
- Excel — the same cut list as an .xlsx file you can open directly in Excel or any spreadsheet.
- PDF — a printable summary of the cut list.
- DXF — CAD drawings of the parts, ready for your cutting software or CNC.
- Ruby code (SketchUp) — a script you can import into SketchUp to generate the professional 3D model.
Which browsers are supported?
Roostwood works in any modern browser with WebGL support: Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari (recent versions). For the best experience we recommend a desktop or laptop computer with a large screen, since the 3D viewer and the configuration panel need room to display comfortably.
About the Service
What is Roostwood?
Roostwood is a professional custom furniture design platform. It is built for carpentry workshops and woodworkers who need to speed up the whole process from quote to build: 3D design, automatic cut list generation and exports to professional tools, all in one place.
Who can use the platform?
Roostwood is aimed at professional carpenters, carpentry workshops and interior designers working with custom furniture. Registration is open: create your account from the sign-up page. If your workshop already uses Roostwood, enter its invite code when signing up to join its workspace — or create your own workshop later from inside the app. For any questions, write to us at tech@roostwood.net.
How do I contact support?
Write to us directly at tech@roostwood.net. Describe the problem in as much detail as possible (what you were doing, the error message if there is one, your browser and operating system) so we can help you as quickly as possible.
How much does it cost?
Roostwood works with closet packs: you buy a pack and one closet is deducted each time you finish a project — no subscription, no commitment, and your closets never expire. Designing and quoting is free; a closet is only charged when you finish it. See current prices in the pricing section of the home page.
Can I use Roostwood on a phone or tablet?
The app is responsive and opens on any device. However, the 3D designer is optimized for large screens and mouse input; on a phone or tablet the experience is more limited. For day-to-day work we recommend a desktop or laptop computer.
